Drained and Out of Sorts!

24 September

Drained and Out of SortsYou’re always hearing it said that we all have the same number of hours in our days, weeks, months and years. The point is usually to help us realize that everyone is busy, we all have limited time and ultimately, it’s what we choose to do with that time that defines our life.

I’ll take it a step further and say during those hours, the time may indeed be fixed, but the quality and quantity of energy and vitality available to us is not.  Everything you do either gives you energy or robs you of energy. It’s really that simple. And, if you tune in, you’ll quickly realize which things give you energy and feed you and which drain you. It’s a good indication of what’s right for you and what isn’t.

You know the people and experiences that make you feel drained just thinking about them? How about the ones that fill you with excitement and that great feeling of expectation? It comes to you in the form or energy – you either feel filled with it and totally lacking. If you steer toward the energy, you steer in the right direction.

When you are vital, you feel healthy and alive. There are habits and strategies for well-being and stress management.

Let’s move out of being drained and out of sorts!

Awareness is the first step and as you may have heard quoted “awareness is curative”. Once you’re aware of something, you’re empowered to change it. And ultimately, a healthy, relaxed body leads to a focused, positive productive mind.

Take a good look at your environment and what you’ve chosen to surround yourself with. Be curious. Ask yourself (or the universe) questions and listen closely for the answers. They are there; you just need to tap into them. And, you probably are aware of that already and like most of us, forget this from time to time. The more you ‘remember’ and pay close attention, the easier things become for you. Ask whether what you are doing working for you?

If not, are there ways you can restructure how you spend your time?

Often doing things at the time that is right for you enable you to be more productive in a shorter amount of time. For example, most people are more focused and clearer in the morning. If that’s true for you, you might consider tasks that require creativity and concentration early in the day. You might find that tasks that take hours in the afternoon, take half the time in the morning. Explore this possibility and you’ll discover new approaches to performing tasks and you’ll bring fresh perspective to your work.

From drained to physically well.

Begin by tuning in to your breathing. Breathe deeply and slowly and pay attention to how you feel physically, where you hold tension in your body and move into relaxation. You’ll sharpen your focus and feel less spun out about all you have to do. You’ll be able to exert more effective effort to accomplish all you want to achieve.

As always, stay true to yourself, to your needs, your goals and your spirit.
